Quantity over quality

That is what I need to remember when I write. I need to write down everything that goes through my mind. Even if I think it is totally ridiculous because I can just throw it out later. I used to think like that. Any idea that crossed my mind, I would write it down. I got away from that practice and started editing my ideas as I went along. And I think my writing has suffered as a result. So lately I've been trying the opposite. If I get an idea for a new script, I don't think about whether its a good idea or not. I just write it down and decide later.

Writing for the Masses

I've chosen to write a mock-mentary for my final project in Media Scriptwriting. It will be about life in my dorm room. This brings about the challenge of writing jokes and stories that almost anyone can relate to. I'm tempted to just write things that my friends and myself find humorous. That does not make a good script. I must learn to put away on biases and focus on entertain more than just my roommates.

Its been awhile

I haven't written in awhile, been real busy. One of the things that has been taking up a majority of my time is Studio Production. We are creating a sitcom from scratch and will be premiering it at the end of the semester. And I just have to give a shout-out to our writers. They have done an amazing job. I think few people realize how hard that type of writing is. I've tried to write my own stuff...short films and webisode ideas, but it is very difficult. Studio Production, as well as Media Scriptwriting, has really made me appreciate the scripts that are out there. And I'm thankful that God created us in his image so that we may create as well.

Blogging...Take Two

Greetings and welcome back to the blog. Its been awhile since I've posted because A) blogger.com doesn't like to load when I use Firefox. and B) I've just been putting it off. But putting it off has made me think...there is nothing that I don't procrastinate on. For as long as I can remember I've always put off writing assignments. Doing so has worked out pretty well...unfortunately. This has caused me to completely rely on this bad habit. I've tricked myself into thinking that I do my best work during the final stretch. This is a habit I must try to break this semester. I've already begun by starting my assignment for Tuesday. By "begun" I mean I've written 2 sentences........baby steps.

My First Blog Post...ever

Welcome to the Blah Blah Blog. This is my blog for Media Scriptwriting. I don't really know what to write about. So, I guess I'll just talk about nothing. As far as writing goes, along with this class, I am also enrolled in Principles of Script Analysis. So between the two classes I have my work cut out for me.
